Enhancing Communication Skills: Persuasion

In this 2nd of 5 highly-encouraged workshops, Professor Marc Ankerman will utilize the techniques of persuasion in assisting the participants in the most difficult of presentation styles: being able to persuade in a business setting without alienating the receiver of the message is a skill which needs practice and discipline. A much used skill in leadership, selling and teamwork, we will work on effective means for getting others to understand your message as well as being moved to see your side of the discussion. Students attending the first session will be given direction for preparing a brief “practice-persuasion” which will be evaluated in this second ECS session. We will also use our time together to have impromptu practice with feedback and interaction (all depending on class size).

Enhancing Communication Skills: Case Competition Communication and Preparation

One of the best ways to challenge your communication competency is by competing on a case competition team while here at Fisher. With all of the teaming we do in class, this session will show you how to break down a case, work within your team to select the “best” and “brightest” answers and prepare yourself for the Internal MBA Case Competition weekend, as well as other case competitions that occur during your time at Fisher. This workshop will also assist you in your team dynamics and selection for case competitions. We will have some practice case discussions and answer questions from the "Internal MBA Case Competition Info Session" on October 21st.
